It’s never too early to begin planning to create your perfect wedding cake. It is a good idea to reserve at least 6-9 months in advance, but reservations closer to the wedding date can be arranged if time is available. Your custom creation is important, therefore the number of reservations accepted may be limited. Reserving your date early can help avoid any disappointment.
Email is the best tool for the job! Send an email to email@example.com - be sure to mention the wedding date, number of guests, reception venue, and any photos of what you have in mind. I can send you some preliminary pricing, and also a few sketches to combine your ideas. In-person consultations are only offered for wedding cakes over $350 - however once a cake sketch is decided on through email, a complimentary tasting box can be picked up for you to take home and enjoy!
Yes! Fancy That Cake takes care of the delivery and set up of your wedding cake at your event site. Your creation will be perfectly displayed, awaiting the entrance of your guests. An additional fee may be required if you live outside of the immediate delivery area. Contact Kellie to inquire about your town.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to book a wedding cake and to hold your date. For special occasion cakes orders over $100, a 50% deposit is also required.
The price of a wedding cake is determined mostly by design choices and labor as well as sizes and flavour choices. Prices start at $4 per serving for naked cakes, and $4.50 per serving for buttercream or fondant cakes, and change in price according to the complexity of the design. It is impossible to have a set "price list" as each cake is custom designed specifically for each couple to reflect their tastes, themes and personalities.
All of our cakes (with the exception of carved/scuplted cakes) are four layers of cake and three layers of filling. Once finished, they are approximately 4" - 4.5" high. A typical wedding serving size is 1" wide x 2" long x 4" high. A typical party serving size is 1.5" wide x 2" long x 4" high.
Yes! If a couple has many favourite flavours the wedding cake can be made up of different cake types with different fillings. Each tier can have a different flavour and you can mix and match fillings to create the cake you desire.
Fancy That Cake is aware that some people are highly allergic to things like nuts and gluten. As there are often nuts and nut butters in our kitchen, we cannot ensure that any of our creations would be nut free.
Cake tastings are done as part of my wedding consultations. I do not offer tastings for special occasion cakes. Wedding cake orders must be a minimum of $350 to have a free consultation, but as part of the email planning process for your wedding cake, a complimentary tasting box will be available for you to pick up.
We highly recommend using gumpaste flowers instead of real flowers on your cake. Many natural flowers have pesticides on them that you don't want to come in contact with your cake. Our gumpaste flowers are very realistic looking, and your guests will be amazed that they are made of sugar. If you have your heart set on using real flowers, your florist is responsible for having them arranged and ready to add to the cake. Your florist may be able to point you in the direction of flowers that are pesticide free. We will add the flowers to the cake upon delivery to the reception location to ensure food safety measures are taken. Real flowers must be pre-arranged (all stems taped, boutonniere style)and left on the cake table for me to add to the cake on delivery. There will be a $50 charge if I arrive for delivery and have to arrange the flowers myself.
We do cakes and desserts for all of life’s celebrations. Baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, graduations, communions - any occasion is a reason for cake!
Call or email to reserve your date and discuss details. Please book at least 3-4 weeks ahead, as these time slots book up quickly. Payment is due upon delivery for orders under $100; if greater, then a 50% deposit is required no later than two weeks in advance. Sculpted cakes are hand carved and take more time to create, therefore a minimum of four weeks lead time is required.
